If you imagine the dimensions of the prehistorical giants from Argentina, superlatives become small very quickly. The Argentinosaurus, with a length of 40 meters and a weight of 80 tons, was the biggest terrestrial animal, a herbivore, which easily could have peeped through a window in the third or fourth floor of a house.
The Giganotosaurus, with a length of 14 meters and a weight of 7.000 kg, the biggest theropod ever, was probably the only animal that could have posed a threat to the Argentinosaurus. The Eoraptor counts as one of the oldest true dinosaurs ever to be discovered and lived about 228 million years ago. The giants from Argentina – a gigantic experience!
Senckenberg leads the visitor through the entire era of the dinosaurs (230 until 65 million years before our time). About 40 exhibits (skeletons, reconstructions, models and originals), including species which have only been scientifically described in the last year, are being presented in an enormous marquee of 2.400 square meters.
An ambitious and colourful supporting programme, light and sound effects as well as activity areas for special educational purposes make the “GigaSaurier” an unforgetable adventure for the whole family.
